The 14th Amendment was enacted to secure citizenship and constitutional protections for the Freedmen formerly enslaved Foundational Black Americans not as a blanket guarantee for anyone who crosses the border illegally. The original purpose mattered then, and it matters now. Honoring the descendants of those the amendment was designed to protect should not be controversial.

PERIOD.
The fact the 13th Amendment (which pertained ONLY to FBA/Freedmen) was being IGNORED by American society is the ONLY reason the 14th Amendment even had to be made.
To extend that to UNRELATED groups is corruption.
