Happy Juneteenth!
Today stands as a testament to the enduring pursuit of freedom, dignity, and equality. It reminds us of the strength of those who fought for liberation and the ongoing collective responsibility to advance justice in every community.
Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in our nation, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
It's a moment to reflect on our country's history, honor the legacies of those whose shoulders we stand upon, and continue the work advancing justice and equity in our city and throughout our nation.
In observance of Juneteenth, DHS Service Centers and VWFRC will be closed on Friday, June 19.
Low-barrier shelters for individuals experiencing homelessness will operate as usual.
