Exactly that. Now his fandom is so eager to defend his name that they’ve rendered his legacy down to just those two 3peats. The beauty is in the struggle and finally overcoming it but they’ve completely erased those chapters from his lore.
I prefer LeBron's game and prefer LeBron's personality and prefer LeBron's career. I think he's had the greatest career in NBA history.
But Jordan remains the GOAT to me because these clips show what it was like watching him. He just seemed to NEVER miss. He did, but watching him you alway KNEW he was going to win. There has never been a player like that for me outside of him.
Fernando Mendoza and David Bailey both played in the 2023 edition of Big Game, the last game between Cal and Stanford as Pac-12 members.
They just went #1 and #2 in the NFL Draft.
Said this on TV today. Never saw a QB during his pro day ….call out each receiver by name and announce what the route would be before he ran it during the entire workout like Mendoza did. Every route. WR’s, TE, RB’s. Seems insignificant, but it’s not. It was his show, in collaboration with his pass catchers. A certain GM was paying attention and noticed. One that is going to pick him. Everything matters.
Look... this is how most coaches will talk about this subject because this is how they approached early fatherhood. Always in the office. Not home very often. They expect the players to be without distraction also.
What does seem to be changing is more coaches discuss working less hours and allowing their staff to be with family which is awesome.
History was made tonight ⭐️
Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel are the first pair of opposing rookies that went to the same college to each drop 30+ points in the same game.
The two combined for 83 points... the most of any two opposing rookies in over 50 years 🤯
A cool story about Fernando Mendoza & Tim Plough's relationship at #Cal
#Mendoza - who was low on the Bears depth chart at the time - wanted to get in extra work to earn more playing time. Fernando met with Plough (Cal's TE coach at the time) to go over film and improve. There meetings would go well into the night, as the two went over film as Mendoza knew that was the only way to get better.
Fast forward, Menodza is now a #NationalChampionship winner as the starting quarterback on #Indiana
Moral of the story: It’s not where you start — it’s how you finish. 🏆
And this doesn't even include the part where he lost in heartbreaking fashion to Miami in 2024, in front of a sell out crowd, with GameDay in Berkeley for the first time ever, in part because of a terrible targeting no-call when a Miami defender took a cheap shot at his head.
It’s funny how a lotta the same media that got their panties in a twist about a lady telling the Jaguars coach to keep his head up are all, “you gotta feel for Josh Allen.” Maaaaaaan
#Bills HC Sean McDermott called reporter @JaySkurski from the team plane on the way back from Denver:
“That play is not even close. That’s a catch all the way. I sat in my locker and I looked at it probably 20 times, and nobody can convince me that that ball is not caught and in possession of Buffalo.”
