Uniting more than 150 union locals in DC and Maryland to fight for justice for all working people. Central Labor Council of @AFLCIO, member of @MDDCStateFed.
@CMLewisGeorgeW4 thank you councilmember for your support and all the work you have done for labor! “We are going to work in this budget to make sure the funding is there!”
Aramark Workers @ Washington Convention Center are fighting for a fair contract, including the right to work overtime hours before nonunion temps, good raises to keep up with rising cost of living, fair scheduling & staffing levels, and respect & accountability from management.
Congratulations and welcome to the newest Delegates to the Council: Abby Güner from @OPEIULocal2, Greg Martin from @dcacts1927, and Asa Schauffler from @C21Afa, sworn in at last nights meeting. Thank you for your service to a united labor movement in our region!#BetterInAUnion
This isn’t isolated- @kenyanmcduffie has photos of 32BJ members on his campaign website without permission and despite the fact that our members did NOT endorse his mayoral campaign!
Particularly in local elections, the endorsements signify more to me. These orgs put a lot of thought into who they think will champion their causes. These endorsements are strong. Workers power this economy and deserve as much consideration as we give businesses more broadly.
DC's nurses, teachers, grocery store workers, municipal workers, construction workers, and more are united in our support for @Janeese4DC. She has consistently been on the side of workers and working families and is the leader we need as DC's next mayor. There's no mistaking it.
ARAMARK HAS NO UNION CONTRACT!
Workers at the Washington Convention Center leafleted guests of the #AUA26 Conference to share what we're fighting for (🧵 Check thread)
For nearly 80 years, public workers in Virginia have been denied full union rights. This week, legislation that would have finally changed that, was vetoed. Workers deserve the freedom to have a real voice on the job.

Our logo represents professionalism, courage, strength and integrity. Our sworn members carry out their trade every day serving the people of DC and their endorsement must be earned.
As a delegate to @DCLabor at the time, I can confirm that not only did delegates vote to endorse @Janeese4DC, but we did so unanimously.
Taking the time to find and print the DC AFL-CIO logo on literature isn’t a thoughtless mistake. It’s deliberate misinformation.
Yesterday, @GCAARNow began distributing materials to DC voters claiming that our Council along with @IAFF36 and DC Nurses endorsed @kenyanmcduffie. This claim is patently false.
Not only did we NOT endorse McDuffie, not a single union has endorsed him. Our statement:
It's official. The workers at All Fired Up in Cleveland Park DC voted unanimously yesterday to unionize with us! Please give them a big solidarity welcome and stay tuned for more updates as they begin the process of negotiating a first union contract! #ItsBetterInAUnion#wumarjb
It's insulting to call thousands of union members who live, work, vote (and pay their utility bills) in DC "dark money." Many of DC's unions are proudly and publicly part of Safe & Affordable DC. @kenyanmcduffie has taken thousands from MAGA donors and shady developers.
Last week, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act by allowing white supremacist gerrymandering to silence Black voters.
Nurses won’t stand for this attack on our right to elect representation, and on every working person's right to be heard!
