We lost the great Alex Higgins 16 years ago today. The Hurricane was the original snooker genius, its greatest entertainer, and he won the lot. He had style too ❤️
We'll be paying tribute to the most important man in Newcastle United's history at our season opener against Liverpool on Sunday 23 August.

Six players have moved clubs at the end of the season in which they were the PFA Players’ Player of the Year. Three of those six joined Barcelona or Real Madrid. Only one joined a club in the second division. Saved Newcastle once, then did it again for good measure 👑
"If we lose test cricket, we will lose the cricket we truly know. History remembers legendary test careers not franchise triumphs. Cricket without Tests has no real meaning. Winning a T20 World Cup may put you at the centre of world cricket today, but whether that is truly good for the game remains open to debate.
Test cricket earned its name because it challenges every quality a player possesses, technique, patience, temperament, endurance and character. It is not simply about clearing the ropes for entertainment; It is about battling through pressure, adapting to conditions, and surviving the physical and mental demands of five intense days"

Thanks BAFTA for your 'in memory of' section.
We have lost lots of legends.
But, I am a bit upset you didn't include Ray Brooks.
He had a long successful career in film & tv & brought happiness to millions of children by narrating Mr Benn.
