That Rickey Henderson earned a first-ballot election into the Hall of Fame was not a surprise. The point of the game is to score the most runs, and he scored more than anyone. He stole almost 500 more bases than anyone else. 297 homers. He reached base more than 5,000 times -- 3,055 hits and 2,190 walks. The surprise was that 28 of 539 HOF voters didn't include him on their ballots. Incomprehensible. One of the greatest players ever.
