A year ago I wrote a review of @MentavaInc and why I decided not to continue my subscription.
Well, now I'm back, and I've given it another go with my now 4 y/o daughter. It's one of the best additions (maybe "the" best) to her early education.
I tried to teach my 3 yr. old to read with @MentavaInc. I'm a fan, but I cancelled after the trial.
Why?
In short, I thought the cost set up misaligned initiatives, where mine was to get my money's worth, and my daughter's was to go at her own pace.
@melissa@MentavaInc And a couple of interesting side effects:
- My daughter now calls my foreign language workbooks "dad's learning game"
- It's pushed me down the path of exploring alternative education paths for my kids
@melissa@MentavaInc I'll update my original review when we're a couple months in, but we plan to stick with it to the end.
(Her younger brother also sits alongside and watches her "play," so we'll probably pick it up for him, too.)

I'll almost certainly come back with my daughter when she's just a bit older, although we'll probably give Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons another go first.
