Dr. Capilouto, President of UK, testified about DEI today.
UK recently broke up its DEI office. This happened after lawmakers debated whether to limit DEI practices at public universities.
I asked whether the school’s changes were made due to pressure from lawmakers. No answer.
“An overall climate of fear of retaliation and mistrust is the worst I’ve seen in over 20 years in academia,” an assistant professor at a public university in Texas reported.
I guess $1.3 million is pretty cheap for an "unscientific" study on gutting the @universityofky faculty governance in which the consultants didn't interview the leaders of faculty governance. It's good to know there's always money to be found when you really want it.
@jayblantonuk@lbblackford@universityofky Although they were not recommended to be interviewed, admin felt it was necessary to interview them because of shared governance and added them without the workgroup recommending. Admin chose not to interview the Senate Council chair, even though they absolutely should’ve!

For each workgroup, there were leaders and administrator that were not recommended but still interviewed, like Workgroup II, which I co-facilitated. The VP of Student Success, Enrollment Mgmt,EVPHA, and others were never recommended but interviewed.
