@ChrisCuomo I don’t know if the people at @NewsNation or @ChrisCuomo actually go through all these messages, but if you come along this one, please just keep it in mind in your reporting: Stop using the phrase “the mentally ill.” Words matter.
@ChrisCuomo Using the phrase “the mentally ill” stigmatizes and “others” people with mental illness and reduces them to a blanket slight as opposed to the people who they are. It inadvertently leads to intolerance of people with such illnesses who are not deranged and dangerous murderers.

So here's the thing. You can only violate people's legal rights and your own word so far before they lawyer up and come after you.
