ORR (Bellandur) has been our “office + home” for the last 9 years. But it’s now very-very hard to continue here. 💔
We have decided to move out.
Background:
- Average commute for my colleagues shot up to 1.5+ hrs (one way)
- Roads full of potholes & dust, coupled with lowest intent to get them rectified
- Didn’t see any of this changing in the next 5 years

This story of Rahul Yadav scamming investors multiple times and raising money for every new venture of his came across my timeline.
It took me back over 30 years when I used to be a credit analyst at Citibank. Let me explain the connection.
I was attending a training course on credit and in the MBA style tradition it was a series of case studies of the same company. So it started with Citibank providing some financing facilities to a company which then went through some ups and downs. Then by case number three, there was some additional financing to be provided to this company to tide over some problems.
And the assignment given was, "What are the covenants or the conditions that should be put on the new loan?" I said I would not lend any more money to this company because it wasn't going to come back.
The instructor argued that the assignment was about covenants but I stood my ground so he said, "Okay you make a presentation on why you will not lend to the company" - which I did.
The premise was simple: as with all lenders and borrowers, there are two elements to a borrower repaying the money: one is the ability to repay and the other is the willingness to repay.
I was very clear that this entity had no intention to repay. In real life too, that is exactly how it panned out. Citibank did give it additional money with all sorts of conditions but both the old loan and the new financing were never repaid - the net result was only throwing good money after bad.
It is the same thing with this Rahul Yadav. Yes you can fail as an entrepreneur and get funding but that should be when the mistakes were of strategy or execution, and where you have presumably learned some lessons from the failure.
In this case in https://t.co/S6gLcY1vc3 itself it was very clear that the problem was one of integrity and lack of values - that is the part that never changes!
In his next two avatars also he did the same thing of blowing up company money by for example working out of a suite at a luxury hotel even while the company had a full-fledged office, siphoning money off to related companies and so on.
I am aghast that any professional venture capitalist would continue to fund someone like him.
Of course the second level question is whether again in the case of the venture capitalist the problem of doing this sort of senseless funding is one of competence (ie not judging the quality of the venture and the entrepreneur) or is it one of integrity - meaning the considerations to fund were something other than an objective view of the proposed venture.
It is not that Rahul Yadav is the only one. In many cases from Byju's to Bharat Pe, the huge gaping holes in corporate governance are/were visible a mile away to even outsiders. It appears unbelievable that investors who had invested millions of dollars and at times even billion plus in these ventures had no idea what was going on.
The best part is that many founders not only buy super fancy homes & cars but even start their family offices much before a formal exit. A huge red flag!
It appears that a pattern of related party transactions, where a network of friends and family act as suppliers to the venture funded company, is also rampant.
