@AnneHamilton7 Yes and no. I've been doing a course with JW over the past year, so that's forced me to commit and it's made the book a lot better. I've also been writing some fun stuff under another name in a completely different genre, but that's a bit more frivolous. And yes, we should.
@AnneHamilton7@writer_suzy @elissa_soave It just showed up in my feed, and no worries!
All good, all things considered. The baby I brought to that session is now three and has a little sister. Neither has been left in a box yet, despite occasional temptation.
How are you?
@writer_suzy@AnneHamilton7 @elissa_soave Hey, as a serial finalist/loser of writing competitions, this one was tremendous fun even for those of us who...um, well, are me.
Entering my novel pitch (psych suspense) was great fun, then I was chosen...and had to pitch 🤣
If I can, you can! I'm still best friends with rejection - lucky I'm shamelessly persistent 😆 - but fellow pitchers @elissa_soave @writer_suzy are Out There!
After four decades, a killer uses new technology to return to his unfinished job: chop down an entire family tree. Can Emma Johannessen stop him before she – or the daughter she gave up for adoption – becomes his next victim? #TheLastBird#Crime#Thriller#JWPitchFestival
Four decades. Three families. Two missing children. Can one woman stop a killer before the clock hits zero?
One man searches for a missing brother; one woman seeks the child she gave up for adoption. Both succeed. One wishes they hadn’t.

@DLMWrites I drove one on a long highway drive in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. Fun as heck on a long straight highway. A lot less so when driving in Kansas City.
@cmacwritescrime@NolanDom And more seriously, there's a big difference between town names that would fit in Kentucky or Tennessee versus Iowa or Kansas, for example. You're not going to have a "Hollow" in either of the latter, but you'll have places named after forts and fords.
@vpeanuts I think the answer is across the Atlantic. #10 doesn't want to lose the image of being ahead of the rest in opening back up and isn't willing to compare the conditions that led to the policy differences and opening over here in the US.
@GreenAppleBooks Anything authored by Ayn Rand or that appeared on a high school syllabus. The latter says "I don't read," the former says a lot of unprintable things.
@heidipearljames Not at all; yes, yes. Understanding the reasoning doesn't make my comically generic given name any more usable, and my middle initial being my father's given name also makes that unusable. Cap it off with a last name of astonishing blandness and you have a triple-barreled miss.
@SimonBewick At the risk of being far too literal:
It's one of a series of punny signs at the same location in Colorado and the guy behind it is named Vince Rozmiarek.

@semoorhead As others have said, there's orange Gatorade (and Powerade, which is pretty much the same thing). If you want a drink that all Americans would know and that ONLY comes in Orange, use Tang. It comes as a powder, you mix in the water, and then it's a radioactive orange.
