As I prepare my Annual Review materials, I am reminded of the following things:

1) the term "flexibility" is highly overused and misrepresented in academia (e.g., choosing when to work your 60-70 hours a week is not flexible) (1 of 4)

3) a 2.5% raise across the board once in the past 3 years (and no merit raises) does almost nothing to account for cost of living and the system of getting raises at a state university is incredibly flawed and unjust (e.g., having to get an outside offer to get a raise) (3 of 4)
