today we mourn for george floyd, murdered two years ago by the police, and for 19 children, murdered yesterday while police waited, too scared to protect them.

School background checks in DC are so delayed --sometimes taking months-- that groups say they are downsizing tutoring programs b/c they can't get workers in buildings. In-demand subs are also impacted.
They say it's making worker shortages even tougher.

Today, we continue her fight for statehood for the 700,000 mostly Black and Brown D.C residents.
This afternoon, noise demo protestors outside of the police union (FOP) were assaulted by plain clothed civilian board members.
Board member Gary Durand punched and shoved community members before demanding the arrest of two without charges.
