My article about returning to Iraq after 31 years is now live on @The_NewArab 🙏🏽💙 Trying to capture Iraq’s essence has been deeply emotional – the hardest and most important piece I’ve ever written. Thank you @SheeWrites for the commission 🇮🇶🙏🏽 https://t.co/ZRbe8EX6ff
@RoyalMail hi, I’m trying to get in contact with someone about the status of a parcel that I’m waiting to arrive. The tracking has not been updated in a week, it still says ‘we’re expecting it’ even tho it was sent via Royal Mail 48. Why is it taking so long pls
The Israelis have murdered Al Jazeera’s Anas al-Sharif. The fucking bastards. I’m sorry but I’m enraged. They’d been threatening this for a while. Anas was so courageous and brought a special emotion and depth to his reports. He was our eyes. And that’s why they killed him.
Yesterday, Anas carried the bodies of fellow fallen journalists.
Today, the world carries Anas in its heart.
Those who murdered him, and those celebrating his death, are the real terrorists.
They must be held accountable for carrying out and defending acts of terror.
I will not speak to foreign media about the killing of Palestinian journalists.
I will not sit on your global channels to be part of a segment you’ll forget by tomorrow.
To you, we are just a headline — a tragedy to consume, not colleagues to defend.
We are being hunted and killed in Gaza while you watch in silence.
For two years, your fellow journalists here have been slaughtered.
What did you do?
Nothing.
Or maybe it’s because we are Palestinian journalists — we don’t count as “real” colleagues in your eyes.
For nearly 2 years, I have been asking @BBCNews to critically engage with its sources over Gaza. Israel is a bad source. Uncritically repeating its claims, even with the caveat that they’re denied, is not journalism. Do your job. Verify. You have put Palestinian lives at risk 1/2
They attempted to paint Palestinian men as barbaric savages so that you would pay them no mind when they were slaughtered in mass.
They paid millions of dollars in propaganda to convince you that they don’t deserve to live.
And yet, with nothing but a phone camera, these men showed the world they are the bravest, kindest, most loving, and most compassionate men alive.
Mention the Palestinian men.
they deserve life too.
This is my will and my final message. If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. First, peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
Allah knows I gave every effort and all my strength to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of the Jabalia refugee camp. My hope was that Allah would extend my life so I could return with my family and loved ones to our original town of occupied Asqalan (Al-Majdal). But Allah’s will came first, and His decree is final. I have lived through pain in all its details, tasted suffering and loss many times, yet I never once hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification—so that Allah may bear witness against those who stayed silent, those who accepted our killing, those who choked our breath, and whose hearts were unmoved by the scattered remains of our children and women, doing nothing to stop the massacre that our people have faced for more than a year and a half.
I entrust you with Palestine—the jewel in the crown of the Muslim world, the heartbeat of every free person in this world. I entrust you with its people, with its wronged and innocent children who never had the time to dream or live in safety and peace. Their pure bodies were crushed under thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and missiles, torn apart and scattered across the walls.
I urge you not to let chains silence you, nor borders restrain you. Be bridges toward the liberation of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and freedom rises over our stolen homeland. I entrust you to take care of my family. I entrust you with my beloved daughter Sham, the light of my eyes, whom I never got the chance to watch grow up as I had dreamed.
I entrust you with my dear son Salah, whom I had wished to support and accompany through life until he grew strong enough to carry my burden and continue the mission.
I entrust you with my beloved mother, whose blessed prayers brought me to where I am, whose supplications were my fortress and whose light guided my path. I pray that Allah grants her strength and rewards her on my behalf with the best of rewards.
I also entrust you with my lifelong companion, my beloved wife, Umm Salah (Bayan), from whom the war separated me for many long days and months. Yet she remained faithful to our bond, steadfast as the trunk of an olive tree that does not bend—patient, trusting in Allah, and carrying the responsibility in my absence with all her strength and faith.
I urge you to stand by them, to be their support after Allah Almighty. If I die, I die steadfast upon my principles. I testify before Allah that I am content with His decree, certain of meeting Him, and assured that what is with Allah is better and everlasting.
O Allah, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my family. Forgive me if I have fallen short, and pray for me with mercy, for I kept my promise and never changed or betrayed it.
Do not forget Gaza… And do not forget me in your sincere prayers for forgiveness and acceptance.
Anas Jamal Al-Sharif

This is what our beloved Anas requested to be published upon his martyrdom.
I’ve reported 18 wars over 35 years. I’ve been shot at, kidnapped, threatened, nearly raped. I’ve lost friends from Sarajevo to Syria. I thought I’d seen the worst of humanity. I was wrong. Nothing compares to Gaza — or the complicity letting it happen.

U.S.-based doctor Marcella Jewell provides a horrifying breakdown of what impact starvation will have on Palestinian children and how simply ‘giving them food’ will not fix the problem.
This starvation has been meant to- and will -wipe out a generation of Palestinian children.
The BBC has been Israel's major global propaganda weapon facilitating its genocide in Gaza
The institution now seems to understand it has been complicit in the holocaust of our time
2 years too late. The blood will never wash off
Amnesty International: Israel is deliberately starving Palestinians
Doctors Without Borders: Israel is deliberately starving Gaza
UN expert: Israel is deliberately starving, killing children
Human Rights Watch: Israel engineered mass starvation
Media: Gaza food crisis spreads
For 21 months, @BBCNews you have disinformed the public as to the scale, illegality & disproportionality of Israel’s actions in Gaza. Actions that amount to a genocide. BBC journalists, myself included, have been raising the alarm since 2023. This statement comes far too late.
In 1948, Israel committed one of the gravest injustices of the 20th century: the forced expulsion of more than 800,000 Palestinians from their homes and the destruction or erasure of over 500 villages.
Between 1936 and 1948, Zionist gangs were responsible for the killing of more than 6,000 Palestinians in the lead-up to the state’s establishment.
On May 14, 1948, Israel declared its independence. Less than a year later, on May 11, 1949, the United Nations admitted Israel as a member state—despite these crimes.
To this day, Palestine is still not a member of the UN.
By the end of 1949, just 18 months after its declaration, 54 countries had officially recognized Israel.
Of note: France recognized Israel on January 24, 1949.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
It has taken an enforced famine on two million people, including one million children, for the British media and voices across the political spectrum to finally raise serious protest against Israel’s crimes. Palestine is not a question of left or right. It is a question of right or wrong.
Western countries will never be forgiven for their role in the deliberate and mass starvation of innocent children, in front of our eyes, in the year 2025.
Genocide.
In just over 5 hours, 80,000 people have signed up to help build a new kind of political party.
The establishment is already rattled.
This is just the beginning.
