TLDR: It's shady.
If you want to know what's been going on behind the scenes in Georgia's State Elections Board meetings... TUNE IN TOMORROW.

* These meetings are open to the public!! Get loud, get involved, speak up for democracy!
Me (calmly): Yes, she is an adult, so I can't ask them to come unless she requests it. (Internally screaming: hell no! I'm not forcing a priest on your kid - this is how religious trauma occurs!!)
Who knew years working with homeschool moms would prepare me for chaplaincy. 🙄
(RCC) Momof 28 y/o: my daughter isn't religious, but we are. Our priest said you have to call St. Thomas for annointing of the sick, can you do that?
Me (chaplain): Yes, I can them, but not w/o her permission.
Mother: are you sure?
Last week Rash and I were discussing schedules. She looked at me confused, “wait, is the foot washing thing on Monday or Thursday?” “Thursday,” I answered, “Why would you think Monday?”
“You keep calling it Monday Thursday!”
I need to start pronouncing Maundy more clearly. 😅
@abby_e_o Yeah, I’m not actually a fan of 🧵. It’s confusing and I hate that there are no hashtags. I think a lot of people (myself included) would migrate to 🟦, but can’t get an invite. At this point, I gotta wonder if the scarcity method is still a good idea, but that might be my fomo
The book algorithms just recommended a book called The Professor is In: The Essential Guide to Turning your PH.D Into a Job. I’m flattered, but I don’t have a Ph.D nor am I in a Ph.D program. One day, maybe, but I have a Masters to finish first.
@LauraRbnsn Also, within certain circles, it is a fear tactic used to circle wagons and to keep people within a system and not leave it because it is “too dangerous” out there. It was definitely like this in the conservative Christian homeschool circles I grew up in.
@LauraRbnsn I can’t help but think it is a form of denial - the monster is “out there” not in our families, churches, schools, etc. despite the evidence clearly showing that’s where the danger really is. Easier to project out than to acknowledge and clean within.
The second response is a bit tongue-in-cheek, and one I give only to people I think will follow my sense of humor, but there definitely a grain of truth in it. Nevertheless, I still love the compliment.
One of my favorite compliments to receive is “you were homeschooled?! How are you so well-adjusted/normal?” To which I respond either “I have no clue” or “you think I’m well-adjusted, but I’m just really good at masking - I’ve been doing it my whole life.” 😂😂😂
@elliottnoteliot lol. My best friend tells me I'm an irl wizard because I have books everywhere in my apartment, will mumble to myself while reading, and constitution is clearly my dump stat. Despite this, wizard is one of two classes I have never actually played.
So, with the proliferation of so many Twitter alternatives, will “tweet” become genericized like “kleenex?” Like, will we start saying “I saw a tweet” to which someone will ask “on which platform?”
Anyway, I’m trying the 🧵one, so you can find me on there under dominiqueddeming.
