@anne_theriault I’m a mid school teacher. Recently, I was dxed w/ADHD and it has changed my perspective. I admit tho, I keep kids in at break sometimes to help ‘em organize their binder when they are missing assignments. I don’t frame it as a blessing of time or punishment. I just want to help
@anne_theriault That said, I see so many kids suffer thinking they are dumb but aren’t actually. When they do creative work, they knock it out of the park! I show them the difference between the work they can do when they are in it, and they work that’s not appealing. Night and day.
Once @jasonkenney takes office, the leaders of all 13 of Canada’s provinces and territories will be men. (A big shift from 2013, when there were 6 women premiers.)
Meals are prepped, a new class website made and the next week filled with activities. I’m trying something new with the seating plan tomorrow. Stay tuned for pics! #Firstdayofschool#rvsed#middleschoollife
Oh my goodness! It's project season in full swing at @langdon_school. The students are working tirelessly to demonstrate their learning and research skills! #abed#rvsed
Today's Big Question: How might a school division come together in a matter of hours to build a digital network that generates 10,000 votes for a worthy cause? Today is the last day of voting for Indus School. Your support is appreciated! https://t.co/dSiBXD8tmb #rvsed@gcouros
NBD but I won a dance-off between the teachers today. I whip and nae-naed, jumped on it, and Soulja-Boyed my way to the top #careerachievement#lifeasateacher
Students created their own games for teaching about the relationships between peoples and the importance of the fur trade to Canada’s economic development. Here are some highlights: #rvsed#furtrade#grade7#abed
@sheabrandford A topic for the full 4-9 paragraph essays they wanted to write. They had to start with a topic, then make it into a question they could debate, then answer the question.
@sheabrandford We started with the topic “should kids play competitive sports?” And went through both arguments, going through already found sources and finding the information in those sources. They debated in small groups and together we wrote a mini-essay (3 paragraphs). Then they chose 1/2
2/2 by a student telling me this has been their favorite unit so far! I was shocked because the students are silent during work time! And the student told me that means they love what they are doing. Can't wait to have students read their argumentative essays to one another!
Today, my colleague and I were discussing units in Grade 7 language arts. I've been working with my students on very basic paragraph and essay writing. I've been receiving amazing work but I worried the students weren't into it because they've been silent. I was interrupted 1/2
My intention this week as educator is to speak with my students on a more one-to-one basis. It can be difficult to build relationships when I see 100-120 students in my class each day.
It’s never too late in the year to adopt new intentions. #mindfulness
