Imagine the warrior, tempered by trial, yet wandering without a banner to rally beneath. His power dissolves into idle pursuits, scattered by the winds of chance. Stoicism urges us to command our lives: to set noble aims, align with nature’s rational order, and turn adversity’s gifts into the path of eudaimonia—the flourishing life.
So, embrace the forge of despair, but wield your strength with intention. In goals lies unity; without them, only the hollow echo of potential. Let adversity sculpt you, but let purpose guide the chisel, crafting a legacy as enduring as the Eternal City itself.

…Mortality is the measure that makes life precious

Imagine a world without pain, without regret, without the boundary of mortality. It would seem like paradise, yet it would strip life of its weight and its wonder. Pain sharpens our awareness of joy; regret awakens the call to wisdom; mortality teaches us the sacred value of each fleeting moment. Without them, we would drift in shallow existence, untouched by depth, unformed by struggle, and unmoved by compassion. The joy of mortality, regret, and pain lies not in their sting, but in their power to remind us that to live is to grow, to fall is to learn, and to suffer is to awaken to the fullness of being.
