@JoshEberley I was really high on Ingram for a long time and I still am in theory, love him as a player, but it really hasn't looked good in New Orleans for him for a little while now
And with that plus the money plus the injury, you're really betting a lot on him bouncing back
@Sam_Vecenie he feels like a classic example of the Tough Shot Maker problem
it's great that he's such a great shot-maker and he can get those tough shots to fall
but it's a bad sign that he ends up taking so many tough shots in the first place
@Sam_Vecenie objectively Dejounte, Trey and Herb are not a bad start for a supporting cast
they aren't that far away from having a legit rotation if they can just replace McCollum and Ingram with guys who can play (no hate to McCollum, just father time)
@Sam_Vecenie even if blowing it up would be the right move in basketball terms, it would feel so shitty for them as a team, franchise, organization, etc
and i'm not sure it is the right move in basketball terms either
@HPbasketball all this stuff about "well, he won coach of the year"! we ALL know that Coach of the Year is a fairly meaningless award and coaches of the year get fired all the time - why do we have to pretend it means a coach is untouchable?
@HPbasketball You shouldn't keep a coach just because the team made the playoffs if he's not actually doing a good job, and not playing someone who everyone - including you - thinks should be playing more and more consistent minutes is one big clue he might not be doing a good job
@okiepokie11@WorldWideWob they're still a really good team and they still match up well against Boston, but they will probably have to do a lot better at limiting turnovers and not sending Boston to the line to make the matchup work in their favor
@okiepokie11@WorldWideWob no team in history is or ever will be good enough at perimeter defense to hold their opponents to 20% from 3.
even OKC this year doesn't do that consistently!
@DurellT@WorldWideWob yeah to be clear this is not an anti-OKC thing, they're a really good team. just, this particular game isn't a repeatable game plan.
@WorldWideWob i just don't believe that the Thunder or anyone else can consistently hold Boston to 20% from 3 though
like. that isn't a game plan or perimeter defense thing, that's just a bad shooting day. and you can't really plan on having 4 bad shooting days in a 7 game series
