Hi friends!
As many of you know, animal welfare is a cause that’s near and dear to my heart. Arizona Animal Welfare League is Maricopa county’s only true no-kill shelter and does a lot to support the overall wellbeing of animals. In order to help support them as they continue their mission of helping animals, myself, my mom and my boyfriend Dan have signed up for this year’s 5k walk once again.
I’m asking all of my animal lovers to please come together and help me out by sharing this post. If you have the means, even just a five dollar donation helps get AAWL closer towards their overall fundraising goal.
If anyone is interested in joining us for the 5k, please let me know and we’ll get you added to the team!

I’m sure you all know this already, but it’s National Dive Bar Day today. Get out there and have some ice cold macrobrewed domestics and a shot with a pickleback. Tip heavy and give thanks for these rapidly disappearing embassies from a different, wonderful time.
GET THE BROOMS OUT! Jarren Duran walks it off in the 10th as the Red Sox complete their first four game sweep of the Yankees since 2018!

40% of two-year-olds now have their own tablet.
That’s a problem.
Just ask elementary school teachers. Behavior issues are through the roof. And devices are a major reason.
Why?
We’re training kids to soothe via devices.
We are detraining their ability to cope and handle emotions.
I’m late getting around to posting this, but about a week and a half ago, Dan and I took Petie out for a Fido Field Trip to get a break from the shelter. Petie is a super sweet senior pup who needed a chill day, and that’s exactly what we gave him.
Funny enough, Petie wasn’t supposed to be our dog we took out that day. A different dog had been approved for us, but he was not handling the harnessing process well so we abandoned that idea and went back to the drawing board. While we were brainstorming dogs to take out, another volunteer recommended Petie to us and told us he’d be a wonderful companion for the day, so we rolled with him!
When we first got him out of his kennel, we brought him to the play yard to get harnessed up. Being a senior, he’s a little slower moving and doesn’t really pull on the leash at all, so it was a nice leisurely stroll over. Once we had him in the harness, we brought him out to the car and helped him get in, since he couldn’t quite climb up on his own. Once we were in the car, he sat calmly between the seats on the floor and just enjoyed the ride.
Our first stop was Dan’s house, because Petie had been laying in his own urine and it had stained his coat on his leg. We gave him a quick bath in the backyard, which he handled like a champ, and then we dried him off and let him sniff around the yard and explore. When he was done, we brought him inside the house and me and my mom stayed with Petie while Dan went in another room with his dog Ximena. Petie climbed right up on the couch and went to sleep for quite some time, getting caught up on the rest he’s missing out on at the noisy shelter.
We thought about going out to lunch, but because it was so hot out, we opted for chinese take-out instead. Petie enjoyed getting to eat pieces of Orange Chicken and lo mien and I even gave him a little bit of fortune cookie for good luck! After eating, Petie got back on the couch and went back to sleep for a bit while we had a relaxing Saturday at home.
Around 2:30 we decided to head out and take Petie to Grand Avenue Brewing Co. since they let us bring the dogs inside there. Petie was so calm, laying down on the floor hanging out by our feet as we enjoyed a few beverages.
Eventually it was time to bring Petie back for his curfew, and he handled it so well. Although we know he didn’t want to be there, he walked right back into his kennel and laid down with the enrichment he had missed out on earlier in the day.
Petie is a super sweet nine-year-old boy who is looking for a place to live out his golden days in peace. He was previously at the shelter as a puppy eight years ago before coming back in May as a stray. Whoever had him neglected his dental health and he could greatly benefit from a dental exam and cleaning. Someone please give this guy a soft spot to land and help him transition into his final years in a home that will love him.

This bod-slam of a letter further underscores that breaking gambling rules and laws -- especially betting on your own team -- is considered a major problem by everyone but a crackpot judge in Texas.
If you told me in 1987 that Jose Canseco, Eric Davis, Mark McGwire, Darryl Strawberry, Don Mattingly, and Dwight Gooden wouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame but the Padres’ shitty catcher I was getting in every other pack was going to make it one day I’d have thought you were insane.
NEWS: The Oklahoma Attorney General's office issued a rebuttal letter to the Texas AG's office's letter to the Big 12. Oklahoma AG Gentner Drummond says that the idea that Big 12 may not sanction its members is “facially absurd” and says Texas Tech’s actions have “constituted a shameful chapter in the story of college football.” Per me and @max_olson.
Arizona State University filed to use eminent domain to steal a 124 year old Phoenix home from a senior homeowner
The man who owns it is a 89 year old senior citizen who’s owned the home for 50 years
ASU says they need the land for their downtown health campus
ASU made multiple purchase offers, they’ve offered up to $850,000 for the home. The homeowner keeps refusing. So now they plan to just take the home with eminent domain
If eminent domain goes through he’ll be forced to accept the appraisal price
