gonna miss my friends John, Marty, Bridget and Tyler. Not gonna miss my enemy the White Martian. Ambivalent towards my complicated acquaintance Despair The Zero
@daolunkmt Genuinely blew my mind years ago when I came across Moriki's artwork on a gundam wiki dive. Only 1 year into watching gundam and I'd already had the essence of what a gundam could be upended. Love these dudes (novel designs still the best)
@Kiramainep It's super popular and right on the edge of breaching into western general audience acknowledgment, but it doesn't come up a lot in conversation in anime circles. Different crowd, which makes people erroneously think they're a minority, because gundam rarely dominates discourse.
@OolongEarlGrey It's cool that while s1 leaned much more heavily into 2077 iconography, this season seems to be pulling more from the tabletop which tends to go under-served when discussing Cyberpunk.
@theeshyguy2000@mercuryzwisps I mean, I think them being big robots at war kinda defines literally all aspects of their lore from a historical standpoint. Like, the matrix, the primes, Primus and Unicron themselves are all downstream of the initial concept of a society of robots that turn into stuff
@iamyomas It seems that despite lack of definitive endings being constantly invoked as a downside to comics, everyone saying that is apparently incapable of actually letting go of characters they like.
@cosmicseternity Even with Trigger, the idea of a studio like Gainax starting now is insane. Just people who love what they do breaking into the industry from the ground up.
@Sound3Reco In G1, this would be an episode of the week where the decepticons steal it and incapacitate the autobots until they also drop because they forgot to account for zone saturation. Spike turns it off and everyone leaves to fight another day. It never appears again
I think a lot of their earlier figures still have merit, but otherwise, yeah kinda. It's not even just Pose+, there's like a half dozen companies that have overtaken SoC's niche
