i am really starting to believe @StevenACohen2 does not care @nymets are the worst team in baseball at this point. He needs to fire Stearns and Mendoza and need to go after players/coaches who have world series experience but it seems he bought this team to get the land 4 casino!
Stan Hansen won the AWA World Heavyweight Championship in December 1985. The AWA promised him big paydays and main event pushes that never materialized. In June 1986 he refused to drop the title to Nick Bockwinkel and no-showed a scheduled defense. The AWA stripped him of the title, handed Bockwinkel a tag team belt and called it the AWA championship, while Hansen took the real belt back to Japan and kept defending it. When the AWA threatened legal action Hansen responded by running over the belt with his truck and mailing it back to Verne Gagne with the tire tracks still on it. Hansen later reflected on the incident and said of the belt, “It was a piece of sh*t to start with.”
