Grad Student Spring Break Day 2: Had a great friendship-outing, felt unreasonably guilty about spending $14.34, fell asleep on the couch while wearing crocs/watching "Fun with Dick and Jane." End scene.
@two_maps Totally, but I know I get crazy if I stay inside too long: you holler if you need to borrow a car and errand or whatever! I'm glad you're okay!
"All through February I kept pushing back my routine weeping, so I'm really in for it, over Spring Break." ~Me, explaining a fairly normal grad school experience to my (appropriately concerned) students. ๐ #feelyourfeelings#springbreak2019#everythingisfine
@qsview It's an absolute horror storm, so short answer, no. But I do think it could be useful as a teaching tool for what abusive relationships (and predatory men) look like. Except it's 1,400+ pages....so I think high school students would riot?
"A little garden belongs to the inner house, in which the old gentlewoman has displayed a true female fancy, and crammed it with vases, flower-pots and figures, without number." ~"Clarissa", 1747
There's a decor-trend where people stack their books so the spines/covers face the wall....so all you see it stacks of pages....so as a society, it's all over? We're done now?
There are some days where I wake up, excited to read exam books, excited to see how a play or novel ends. โค๐๐ And then...in the distance...Grading rolls into town. #bahhumbug#everytime

Dorimant: Put on a gentle smile and let me see how well it will become you.
Harriet: I am sorry my face does not please you as it is, but I shall not be complaisant and change it.

The 2019 EGSO Symposium is almost here! Come for a day of papers and presentations by our very own grads, a job market talk, and even a poetry reading by our MFAs at @PivotBrewing afterward! #egsosymposium2019
There's nothing like starting a new book! โค ...unless you're prepping for quals, in which case, THIS SHOULD BE HAPPENING EVERY 24 HOURS! READ! READ, TIRED BRAIN! READ FASTER! ๐
I'm not a perfect teacher, but on occasion, I do deliver perfection. Thank you for your scholarship and for rounding off my WRD 112 week, @raciolinguistic (p.s. I only had to say "Featuring Kelly!" because my students have heard like 80 life-changing anecdotes, ft. Kelly.)
