I finally finished Rain World. It's one of the most impressive games I've ever played. Up there with Outer Wilds and Disco Elysium. The organic ecosystem with real-time physics and procedural animation is so masterfully crafted. There are so many mind-blowing little details...
@iamsiya1729 That logic still doesnโt work mid-air. โStarting a new chainโ requires someone within range, and there was nobody 33ft close to her in that helicopter
@UnderTheMayo Heavy on The Pitt, but next season might feel stale if they don't shake things up.
From is not gonna end well, but gotta see it through.
Rick and Morty had a surprisingly great season.
Jaadugar is fantastic so far. Beautiful art style with rich historical character work.
@STsougkranis@Yunaenjoyerr Honestly, I find it simple. We all interpret art differently. That's it. There is no one way to interpret any art, good or bad (because there is no way to objectively prove one way or another).
@STsougkranis@Yunaenjoyerr I get what you're saying about it being a shield. People tend to use it as a way to avoid discussion, defending their position, but what's so wrong about that? It's not like they are lying about their experience. That's just a way of expressing not wanting to engage.
@STsougkranis@Yunaenjoyerr People constantly disagree on art, so, again, there is no way to prove who is objectively correct. The best we got is general consensus, which is why I brought it up, and that isn't objective.
@STsougkranis@Yunaenjoyerr You already know I wouldn't, but us not liking something doesn't make it objective. I've seen people love the show, rating it 5 stars where everyone else is giving it nothing. How do you decide who is objectively correct? How do you prove one way or another?
@Bilgemroe@silveow@UnderTheMayo It sounds like I would have a similar problem with the original then, but I'm solely going off the remake. They had an opportunity to improve it.
@Bilgemroe@silveow@UnderTheMayo But shouldn't it be awkward? I used those two games as examples because they don't incentivise combat, but they still give you the tools to perform it when absolutely necessary. The issue with SH2R is that combat is the default option because of how deadly you are.
@Bilgemroe@silveow@UnderTheMayo Something like Rain World or Amnesia: The Bunker. Both keep the mechanics fun and complex while making the player feel weak.
@silveow@UnderTheMayo I never played it. I'm going off the feeling the remake gave me. A video game's mechanics should serve the game it's in. Look at Rain World. A game where you're at the bottom of the food chain. Guess what? You really feel powerless because of its mechanics.
@STsougkranis@Yunaenjoyerr I don't think we need any objectivity for discussion around art to be meaningful. The fact that we can all look at something with a different perspective makes it more meaningful in my eyes.
@STsougkranis@Yunaenjoyerr There are things that most people would immediately point to as bad, but that's still just a collective of subjective judgement. General consensus is not objectivity because artist break the consensus all the time. Art can't evolve without it.
@silveow@UnderTheMayo He's literally able to dodge attack sin quick succession without break or anything. His swings magnetize to enemies. You have so many bullets and weapons that you can quick swap between them like Doom Guy. He isn't doing over the top backflips, but his abilities are above basic.
