Sincere thanks to President @SantiPenap for the thoughtful gift of the national team jersey. As the World Cup begins, Taiwan is cheering for our diplomatic allies, #Paraguay and #Haiti. Wishing both teams great success!
There are legitimate questions about data centers and Americans deserve answers as companies work to build infrastructure we need for our nation’s future. Unfortunately, the Chinese Communist Party exploits our openness and works to divide Americans through its United Front organizations and other entities. Its state-run media has published English-language articles overtly attempting to divide Americans on the construction of data centers, and some elements in China are attempting to do so by more disguised methods. The Select Committee will continue to investigate potential Chinese malign influence in the data center debate.
How China’s CCP, Taiwan’s KMT, and the detractors of a common defense in Asia become captives of history, sacrficing the future for the sake of the past---my latest.

This updated list of Chinese military companies is a warning to American businesses, all levels of government, and the American people. These Chinese companies are working with the Chinese military against our national interests. Any of them that are publicly traded on U.S. exchanges should be immediately delisted and their products should be removed from supply chains our country depends on. American companies must stop doing business with these threats to our national security, otherwise they are enabling China’s military ascendance. https://t.co/j1nQ2sJuEV
Our thoughts are with the people of the Philippines following today’s devastating earthquake. As a close neighbor, Taiwan stands ready to provide any assistance needed and we pray for a swift recovery and rebuilding effort.
BREAKING: China’s Ministry of Transport announced a “special maritime traffic law enforcement operation” in waters east of Taiwan on June 6, involving the Fujian and Guangdong Maritime Safety Administrations, East China Sea Navigation Service Center, and East China Sea Rescue Bureau.
Beijing framed the operation as an effort to exercise maritime administrative jurisdiction, strengthen distant-sea patrols, and protect “national rights and interests.”
CCTV said the action was a response to Japan and the Philippines announcing maritime boundary talks east of Taiwan, which Beijing claimed infringed on China’s sovereignty and maritime rights.

As was reported last month, the CCP attempted to spy on the Select Committee via recruiting on LinkedIn. Now, the U.S., the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Canada are warning that China is attempting to use job platforms to recruit people with access to sensitive information. The Select Committee encourages all Americans to be vigilant regarding suspicious outreach they receive. https://t.co/D6UGbV8pBw
On June 4, the world marks 37 years since the Chinese Communist Party ordered its troops to attack thousands of peaceful demonstrators in and around Tiananmen Square. Those who sacrificed to uphold their unalienable rights of free expression and peaceful assembly will be vindicated someday.
The CCP regime massacres the Chinese people more systematically and methodically than any government in human history, responsible for the deaths of more than 70 million souls, many times more than the combined total of the killed by all foreign interventions since the Opium War of the 1840s. And the binge of repression and brutality continues.
Yet, the regime routinely performs the act of pretending to "represent" the Chinese people, with bogus solemnity and hackneyed gobbledygook, as seen here:

Today, the Select Committee honored the legacy of the June 4, 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, and the courageous survivors who still face transnational repression from the CCP 37 years later. Special thanks to Arthur Liu, proud dad to Olympic Champion figure skater Alysa Liu, and former U.S. Army Chaplain Yan Xiong for sharing their stories from 1989, and the more recent threats against them and their families. All of us believe in the God-given rights and liberties we enjoy as Americans and pray one day the Chinese people will have these rights too.
37 years ago, brave young souls rose up in Tiananmen Square. Today, their legacy reminds us: a truly great nation has the courage to face its history, embrace different voices, and protect the inalienable right to dream. Taiwan will always stand with those striving for freedom.
7 PLAN vessels and 4 official ships operating around #Taiwan detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and responded. No flight path illustration is provided, as we did not detect #PLA aircraft operating around Taiwan during this timeframe.
1. No state, including China, can impose its hegemony and hold the security or prosperity of our nation and our allies in question…We defend the status quo that has enabled extraordinary growth and opportunity across the region.
