People don’t talk to each other about what you like to do when you travel outside the context of planning a specific trip?
Both partners should be able to plan a trip that the other person would enjoy (the majority of) as a result of getting to know each other (& being honest)
Did that lady say what’s in your pot is causing harm, or what’s on your plate? Because I immediately thought about the fast food, restaurant food, snacks/beverages, and other harmful/processed (non-soul food) dishes and ingredients people consume way more often than soul food
@_jenniferopal I don’t and definitely assumed people who do we’re just generally more expressive. I’m more likely to throw a gif into the chat after a close call/win/milestone.
My career advice to anyone in their 20s especially if you’re a POC is to ✨stay delusional✨ bc the world will try to make you smaller but your delusion will buffer you against those oppressive forces. 💪🏽
@KellyFauxland@ParissAthena@Carnage4Life When we talk about the harm done to Black Americans in this country and it’s lingering impact, failing to acknowledge the harm of hyper vigilant tendencies (mentally, physically, etc) leaves off an important piece of that convo and slows down our collective healing. …imo
@KellyFauxland@ParissAthena@Carnage4Life What you’re saying seems to imply that simply identifying unhealthy traumatic responses places blame/onus or shames the traumatized.
Even a legit trauma response is still a trauma response, and for some it may be worth considering when that response is legit vs when it’s not.
@ParissAthena@Carnage4Life I’ve encountered people emphasizing “getting over it” as well (not a fan) but I didn’t see that here.
I’m also not surprised at the idea that Black Americans are more sensitive to racial issues in some ways than African immigrants.
