@TJHannam10@TrentoDuke Hey Trey, I discuss this concept with my players nearly every day and they struggle with it constantly. We work on load to launch position daily...do you have any secrets you use to practice it. I show them gm video because they feel they are loading early, but they aren't.
@Seth_3773 My take is that although they likely will miss hanging with their bro's it's about how it appears to others & fitting in. If that was their level of commitment to baseball and their teammates, they are sad when it's done because they don't see great things ahead of them.
Development: the ultimate buzz word. Here’s what most every youth through high school player needs to get better at instead of saying “I want him to develop” this is the actual meaning.
Pitchers:
-Command your fastball
-Land a secondary pitch in any count
-hold runners, vary holds
-you NEED a third pitch, develop one in catch play
-pfp’s, getting over, backing up bases.
I guarantee one of these things for most of you needs work
Infielders:
-can you make every play 9/10 times. Routine, one hand glove, back hand push through, slow roller.
-dp feeds and turns
-speed of the ball speed of the runner (internal clock)
-fly ball right of way
-do you know depths?
-bunt defense coverage?
-cutoff responsibility?
-1st/defensive responsibility
-rundown execution limiting exchanges
If you play multiple infield positions do you know them all?
Outfielders:
-routes
-communication, backing up other OF’s
-long hop/short hop
-do you hit the cutoff man or air mall everyone allowing free bases
-are you comfortable on the warning track or in foul territory
Catchers:
-can you read swings enough to call a game, probably not yet
-you just called a breaking ball, it was your call, the ball can’t get by you
-back pick situations
-CS%, pop time
-do you back up routine ground balls to IF at 1b
-are you tough
-can you manage your whole staff
-do you communicate properly with the umpire
-throw the ball around on a strikeout without it going into left field and embarrassing yourself
Baserunners:
-do you get good jumps
-is your secondary lead good enough to advance on a dirt ball or DBR
-can you make 1st to 3rd decisions on your own
-do you pick up your 3b coach for signs on every pitch
-are you a threat or you waiting for something to happen
Hitters:
-can you use the whole field or are you one dimensional
-do you have intent to hit the ball hard or are you scared
-do you work on hitting secondary pitches
-will you stick your nose in there with two strikes or will you give it away
-can you sacrifice bunt to either side easily or bunt for a hit
-will you put a hit and run in play or miss the sign? How about a squeeze?
-do you have an idea what you’re trying to accomplish or is “get a hit” your mindset all the time?
-do you know what it means to do a job.
-are you strong enough to slug or do you only hit singles?
There are many MANY smaller things that go into being a high level baseball player but this basic list has tons of things on it that most players need work on.
Everybody says they want to be developed without knowing what it means. That’s what it means.
What if I told you that a single income once provided a home, a car, and a comfortable life for an entire family?
One shift in the economy made sure that would never happen again.
Here’s how they used feminism to double the workforce, slash wages, and turn two incomes into a necessity🧵
If you're familiar with the book Outliers here is further proof of the "Mathew Effect"...66% of players born Jan-Apr & 3/4 born in first half of the yr.

@PBR_JUCO @jucoroute
@AllmarasMasen@Kindred_Post117 @PBR_JUCO @jucoroute I've had the opportunity to coach Masen the past 4 yrs and those #'s are a small part of what he offers, such as high character, fantastic work habits, a strong desire to be better, a great teammate & leader, and he tracks down balls in the OF as well as anyone! #truecompetitor
It was a hard fought, give it all we had, tough way to end the season kind of day. Vikes win ship 1, 3-0 but fall in a winner take all final 1-0…. Both vs Wahp. We love our guys, they laid it on the line. Class A Runner-ups for the 2nd straight yr, 3rd consecutive year in top 3.
We lost a crucial and longtime member of the Moorhead baseball community on Thursday. Steve Timmer will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Timmer family. If you would like to donate to the family you can do so with this link: https://t.co/m4TFFMXDTC
