if u are young, do not choose to suffer. if someone is treating u badly, just leave. whether that’s a friend, job, relationship.. it’s not cool to suffer if u have the choice to leave, it is icky. Know your worth!! it’s better in the long run overall
Went on a date with a guy way younger than me last night
He picked the restaurant based on my food allergies (asked in advance so there'd be zero stress).
Showed up seven minutes early.
Pulled my chair out, then acted totally normal about it, like it wasn't a whole performance.
Ordered a bottle of wine and let me pick it.
Told me a genuinely embarrassing story about himself in the first twenty minutes just to make me laugh.
We walked to get ice cream after and he carried both cones so I could put my coat on.
No "so are we gonna..." energy at any point.
Just talked about our families, our worst jobs, a trip he wants to take someday.
Dropped me at my door, said he had a great time, didn't try to invite himself up....
I wish people would ask Tracee Ellis Ross deeper questions other than how she feels about being childless and her relationship status.
She’s just gotta be tired of wearing the cape for singledom in every convo. And she’s so more interesting than just that.
She articulates herself so well, I tune in every time! People have identity issues causing them cling to roles (wife, mother, career title etc) but you can't replace knowing who you are at your core. And when you know who you are, you choose better, instead of being chosen.
this is precisely why i’ve been obsessed with dance for most of my adult life. the amount of stamina, strength, flexibility, spatial awareness, and bodily control you get from being consistent with your dance practice will quite literally make you addicted to it. by far the most effective way of becoming a highly fluid and sensual being
I love being a woman and I love being beautiful and I love stepping out with other beautiful women like life is so simple and beautiful let’s have fun being real life flowers
I really dislike being around women that don’t have anything to talk about but meeting a new man, talking to a man, or getting something out of a man 24/7. Like, do you have a life outside of a man? Any goals? Any trip plans? Any personal hobbies?
Sharing successes of what you did at your jobs or little things you do outside of your job is not showing off. It’s a way to prove to yourself that you have done great things in life.
It’s worth celebrating every wins that you do. It doesn’t mean that you’re not humble.
Modern billionaires are just so tacky. Go endow a library. Fund research and get your name on a cancer center. Sponsor an eccentric polymath who’s obsessed with marble. Build a museum. Fund public parks. Back climate research. Create something that outlives your ego.
