@EntertainersAce Big problem with the Petals of Reincarnation anime is they tried to speed-run through ~10 volumes of manga in only 13 eps. Not a surprise that it didn't make much sense.
Opening theme song was awesome, though.
@erichimmelheber OK, fair enough, I dropped the show before they established this context. What I did watch left me cold, but that's just me.
I actually agree with you that the ANN review was dumb, even though I wasn't a fan of the show.
Overshadowed to Overpowered is another one of those fantasy shows with an overpowered MC. Doesn't have the most promising first ep, which was pretty much all setup, but I'm willing to keep watching to see where it goes next.
Starting in on the summer anime, first show we get is All-Works Maid. Cute, slightly offbeat isekai where the overpowered MC just wants to be a maid cause she thinks maids are cool. She's got a bit of that freak factor that makes the best isekai MCs stand out.
@ChibiReviews Ah, Shakugan no Shana. Pretty good show overall, though it had its ups and downs. I remember being frustrated with the lack of forward momentum in the second season, but the third season was peak.
I mean, Maki and Umi got to be a couple by the end of the season, while Takuya and the gals aren't there yet. Still rooting for a threesome ending...could we at least get another season of Otagal?
Whereas, Kuranika feels complete. And satisfying.
Otagal and Kuranika started out in similar places, but ended up with some crucial differences. At first I thought Otagal was better (and the gals sure are cuter), but Kuranika closed the gap by getting to the goal faster.
I enjoyed Dr. Stone all the way through, and I felt that it ended up in a really good place.
So great that we got a complete adaptation that kept up the quality from beginning to end, with a satisfying finale.
Pardon the Intrusion I'm Home really fell off at the end. I was liking it in the early eps, but as the show went on, character development went almost nowhere.
Color me disappointed.
Petals of Reincarnation wasn't a great show, or even a very good one, but I'd still like to see another season of it.
And the opening theme song was awesome.
Last Boss Queen was a big step down from the first season. I still like Pride as a character, and I'm curious to see how the story played out, but the writing fell flat in places. Next season better step it up.
Loved Nippon Sangoku. One of the more unusual shows this season, which I appreciated. Fascinating how it played with Japanese history in a post-apocalyptic setting. I'll be eagerly awaiting another season of this.
Observation Log of My Fiancee Who Calls Herself a Villainess was like My Next Life As a Villainess but from an off-center perspective. Bertia had that Bakarina energy (minus the bisexual harem), but the prince's POV added interest to the whole thing.
I caught Rooster Fighter on Toonami and had a fun time. Structurally, it's a standard shounen action show, but since the hero is a chicken, it becomes comedy gold.
