Supreme Court-appointed panel asks Centre to withdraw Transgender Bill that removes right to gender self-determination

The BJP government’s Transgender Persons Amendment Bill is a brazen attack on the Constitutional rights and identity of transgender people.
This regressive bill:
- strips transgender people of their ability to self identify, violating a Supreme Court judgement
- wipes out the diverse cultural identities of communities across India
- forces trans people to undergo dehumanizing examinations by a medical board
- introduces criminal penalties and surveillance without safeguards
The BJP government hasn’t consulted the trans community and brought a bill which stigmatises rather than protects them.
The Constitution protects every Indian’s right to life, liberty, identity, and dignity. This BJP government is violating our Constitution and destroying India’s rich history of honouring transgender communities in pursuit of its narrow ideas.
The Congress Party unequivocally opposes this Bill.
@fullchaeyeonsun hm I see where you’re coming from but im not sure I agree with that analogy. I have a lot of respect for Sasha’s tenacity and jumps but she specialised in one thing - jumps. max has always been a pretty all rounded driver to me. he’s more of a Scott Moir/Max Trankov to me
now I know this isn’t right because what has Sasha won on the senior level exactly? she’s absolutely a phenomenal jumper but that doesn’t make you one of the GOATs
Max Verstappen as Alexandra Trusova
one legend resembles another legend colour me shocked. they both love their sport dearly, passionate athletes who break records
what an absolutely beautiful skate from Ami. she has skated worthy of an Olympic gold and of joining the legion of unexpected but completely deserved Olympics champions. whatever the judges do is now with them, but she has set herself up as a worthy contender for the next quad.
seeing all of these tears from kaori is actually breaking my heart. it feels ridiculous to think that she won’t be here skating next quad. she’s going to be so so missed.
what a beautiful way for the kaori’s career to end. who cares about a mistake on a jump, when she has given so much to us and the sport over her entire career and esp the last quad. she has accomplished something much bigger than any medal in her career and I hope she knows that.
Alysa’s skating and success is such a testament to the fact that you do not need to suffer to enjoy success in the sport. You can see that her skating comes from a place of complete joy and im so happy that she’s being rewarded with an Olympic medal for the skating she’s brought!
there’s something so beautiful about mone’s skating. she just floats on the ice and she brings a level of delicateness to her programs that works so well for the romance of this R+J program. she fought to land all of those jumps and im so glad she’s had this Olympic moment.
unfortunately adeliya looked quite slow throughout the program and didn’t really recover from the mistake on the opening 4T. it’s just unfair that these girls are continually being made to train and compete with injuries. she was fighting throughout the program.
I’m always so happy to see Gubs skate so well, but I do fear that the error on the 3Lz will keep her behind Amber. But she has had such an Olympics to be proud of. She has such exquisite musicality and she’s always been such a joy to watch.
samo really is raf’s biological daughter. i’ve never seen him this happy with any of his skaters (bar nate) when greeting them off the ice or in the kiss and cry. he loves this girl.
I’m so unbelievably proud of Amber for the comeback in the free. It seems like the mistake on the 3Lo was on her mind from the short causing the little error right at the end but she has shown so much mental fortitude to come back from the error in the short.
@TaylorB79469472 here are a few women’s free programs with two 3As for your reference :)

i hope that amber can find a way to not be too down on herself. she isn’t out of it, ice is slippery and mistakes happen. she’s only 7-9 points off the top few skaters and it all it takes is a couple of landed 3As and mistakes from the others (not that I’m hoping for that).
that was such a joyful olympic skate from mone. she really skated up to the pressure of being last up and that was such a skate exuding joy. she has really skated up to the moment and she skated that program better than we’ve ever seen from her!
