The point of government is to protect the rights of the individual and maintain societal order. I live in society, and what I do on a day to day basis does in affect others, as vice versa. You painting the inside of your house bright pink is visually abhorrent, but government does not have the right to dictate what color it is. You dumping used engine oil out into the gutter, allowing foliage to become obscene, and used drug paraphernalia laying around the yard is in fact damaging to others as it’s disorderly, chaotic even.

You cannot maintain order in a country if its population is consumed by it’s worst instincts. Being a drug addict, a mind warped in pornography, a loose schizophrenic on the streets is chaos. Unless being able to do whatever you wish without any legal consequences trumps all, you cannot have libertarianism without an EXTREMELY disciplined populace. That, of course, is impossible for any stretch of time.

Yes, our government is corrupt because you allowed the people to become corrupt. There was a reason our founders were in fact Christian oriented men, even if they did not outright believe in Christ.
