Mike Tyson earned around $400 million in his career. At one point he was about $50 million in debt. In the video below, he hears his own spending read back to him and tries to explain it.
The numbers come from a magazine piece in the 90s, covering the 33 months after he got out of prison.
$42 million on cars and motorcycles. Cars given to 15 women and two men.
$240,000 a month in walking-around money.
Nearly $100,000 a month on jewelry and clothes.
More than $400,000 on pigeons and cats.
A house with 38 bathrooms.
He doesn't argue with any of it.
"I never really learned the art of handling money as a kid," he says. "That's why only a few people maintain it. Because it's an art."
He blames his ego, his addictive personality, growing up with nothing and coming out of prison angry.
Then he describes the money the way people describe a drug. You spend as much as you can trying to fill a hole, and the hole is bottomless.
"I know I don't want what I already had."
He wasn't broke because he earned too little. He earned more than almost anyone alive. The leak was bigger than the pipe.
Do you think anyone who grows up with nothing can handle $400 million, or is the hole always bigger than the money?
@0x_fokki the camera behind the counter detail is so smart, never would've noticed that. do you think the odd couple works better with animals or with objects too?
@Lummox_eth "a clever system prompt is not a security boundary" should be on a poster. for a small solo project, would the prelaunch trio be enough or do you need the runtime shield too?
