This city experienced a few days of heavy rain and it brought some areas to the brink of disaster. And when I came into office, heavy flooding after rainstorms were common also.

But while other districts ranted about climate change and building bike lanes, I got to work doing real things that actually matter -- cleaning catch basins, arranging regular camera inspections of our sewers, planning future infrastructure upgrades, deploying DEP resources where necessary, and planting 1,000 new trees throughout our district.

The result? We fared far better in this storm than much of the rest of the city. Thus far my office has received few reports of homes flooding -- far fewer than we experienced early in my term -- and I've spent the day around the district visiting problem areas to see for myself how we fared.

There is still plenty of work to be done, and there remain isolated instances of flooding, including parts of College Point where sewer work is ongoing, and around the Cross Island Parkway, which is at sea level and will always be problematic. We expect to continue to field calls into next week. But overall we did well.

Here's the reality -- our city should easily be able to handle a few days of rain. But we can't.

Why? Because our infrastructure has been neglected for decades. And on top of that, overdevelopment has strained our these neglected sewer and water systems beyond their capabilities. When you add thousands of new units of housing and commercial space to an infrastructure designed a century ago to handle a fraction of this capacity, you cannot be surprised when things like this happen. Pretty simple, right?

Well no. Because progressive Democrats in this city would rather blame 'climate change' than do the hard and unglamorous work of major sewer upgrades. Not a lot of galas for sewer maintenance. Celebrities don't fly in on their private jets to write seven-figure checks for catch basins. Infrastructure doesn't make idealistic teens cry for news cameras.

But that -- and only that -- is what's going to fix this. Hard-nosed infrastructure work, and getting a handle on overdevelopment. Period.

They want you to believe that changing the weather for the entire planet is the only answer here. And they want to tax you into oblivion for it. But no matter how many carbon-reduction scams they hatch, the flooding will keep getting worse and worse.

Regardless, I'm going to continue to do real work here in District 19. We're going to continue to aggressively maintain our sewers and catch basins, protect our low-density zoning, and plant even more trees and green spaces. And we'll be fine.

BREAKING: U.S STATE DEPARTMENT HACKED BY CHINA

Here’s what we know from this MASSIVE hack by China-based hackers:

- Approximately 60,000 emails were stolen from the State Department.

- They also hacked the email accounts of around 25 other organizations, including government agencies.

- Ten US State Department email addresses were hacked, which 9 of them belonged to individuals deep in East Asia and Pacific affairs.

- Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo was among the individuals impacted.

- The hackers forged digital authentication tokens required by the system. The tokens are typically used to verify a person's identity.

- China labelled the accusation "disinformation" and called the US government "the world's biggest hacking empire and global cyber thief."

- Experts say this is one of the largest known cyber espionage campaigns against the US.

- The hack was uncovered by Microsoft, and occured around May this year.

BREAKING - President Joe Biden's brother, James Biden, told FBI agents that Hunter Biden and the Biden family attempted to help a Chinese energy company purchase U.S. energy assets while believing the Chinese company's chairman was directly tied to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

James Biden told the FBI in an interview last year about efforts by him and Hunter Biden to help CEFC China Energy buy a liquid natural gas facility on Monkey Island off the coast of Louisiana, according to explosive new documents made public Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee.

"James B noted that RHB [Robert Hunter Biden] portrayed CEFC to him as Chairman Ye was a protégé of President Xi," FBI agents wrote in the report.

Last October, the @MarcoPolo501c3 Report on the Biden Laptop revealed that President Xi Jinping, whom Hunter and his business partner referred to as "#1" and "no 1" in text messages, personally approved of the business partnership between CEFC China Energy and the Biden family.

Hunter and James Gilliar, his business partner, alluded to President Xi's involvement in approving meetings and ownership shares on two separate occasions.

On May 16, 2017, Gilliar told Hunter business partner Tony Bobulinski: "As I know chairman [Ye Jianming] will come to meet VP [Joe Biden] if he gets approval from no 1 [Xi Jinping]..."

The following day, Bobulinski, who later confirmed that "#1" and "no 1" referred to President Xi, expressed concerns about the Bidens potentially overruling him on corporate decisions.

Hunter responded, "TONY that is what Zang implied - they are both [Zang Jianjun and Ye Jianming] coming to be MY partner to be partners with the Bidens. He [Zang Jianjun] has implied that the #1 [Xi Jinping] has made that clear and available to him."

In other words, the Bidens were paid millions by their Chinese energy partners, effectively operating as unregistered foreign lobbyists, in a business partnership personally approved by Chinese President Xi Jinping, which leveraged the Biden family's connections within the U.S. government to assist China in acquiring U.S. energy assets.

Just a few years ago, these actions by a President and his family would have been considered treasonous.
