While the zine trend is spearheaded by independent artists, newspaper printers and traditional bookstores have been embracing it too. 👉 https://t.co/rQgSiW5tsV

When i dine out with others, i get asked, “what do you *not* like to eat?”
I tell people, i like almost everything, but that’s not true. I really don’t like:
1) sardines (fishy!)
2) radicchio (bitter)
3) shirasu (tiny fish eyes)
4) tiramisu (soggy!)
…and you?
There's a word Japanese people say to each other
at the end of the day:
'Otsukaresama.'
It roughly means:
'You're tired. And that tiredness is honorable.'
Not 'good job.'
Not 'did you hit your numbers.'
Just: I see that today cost you something,
and that something mattered.
The rest of us measure people by output.
They built a word
that measures people by effort —
and says it out loud, every single day.
Imagine being tired
and having someone tell you it counted.
A common issue I see in early drafts?
Opening the story on a static note rather than a dynamic one.
We see the character waking up, making coffee, commuting to work, going through the work day...all before something interesting happens.
It's valid to want to show your protagonist's "status quo" at the start of the story, but that doesn't mean wasting pages on all the boring parts of their day.
Try this instead:
Oda (2002): I decided to become a mangaka, not a film director because the popularity of a film peaks on the release date. But mangaka can fascinate audiences for a long time if the series continues. I didn't enjoy my junior high school life, but I was happy when I read Jump.🧡
