“Slow motion replays should only be used for facts… normal speed should be used for the ‘intensity’ of an offence.”
Balogun’s red broke this.

@AdamCrafton_ @TheAthleticFC @Dan_Sheldon_ VAR broke its own rule on Balogun’s red card. IFAB protocol: slow-mo can only confirm facts (contact), NOT “intensity” — which is what serious foul play requires. No on-field caution either. Not a “clear and obvious error,” it was protocol misuse.

@herculezg @herculezg weren’t you the first to call the slow motion protocol error? Legend, still dropping dimes for the USMNT. Balogun’s red card review broke VAR’s own rules. IFAB protocol says slow-motion replay can ONLY check facts (contact point), NOT “intensity” of a challenge.

@EricLaurie An American coach changing tactics & calling set piece plays from the sidelines. American football at college level has over 100 plays and many across different formations. Should be able to make more adjustments from the sideline instead of waiting for halftime.

@on3 @KirkHerbstreit Kirk works for ESPN. ESPN owns the rights to the SEC & CFP. Kirk was arguing another SEC team should be in. This is modus operandi for ESPN talking heads. They are hyping their product (SEC) & they benefit from the SEC having presumption in the collective narrative.
