Your post is emotional and your take right but there has never been a time when Nigerian celebrated independence and I feel we should be around the same age group. The truth is there has never been any regime where Nigerians did not complain
When I was growing up, kids looked forward to Independence Day with anticipation. Flags were shared, new clothes were bought, and parents took their children to the stadium, amusement parks, zoos, and other places to celebrate. And I’m not talking about the rich or wealthy; everybody had something good to do for their household, just like during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Nigeria is 66 today. Look around you, what do you see? Are Nigerians happy? Do they even have food to eat, let alone money to take their children out to celebrate? Do we still have stadiums, amusement parks, and other public facilities in good condition? Do state governors still organise events to mark this historic day?
Everyone fit organise, but Okpe’s baby can never, lai lai. That one brain na reverse e dey. 😂
Nigerians are stranded. We used to pride ourselves as Nigerians and hope for a better tomorrow, but every day, that hope seems to disappear. Even on Independence Day, a vast majority of the populace don’t have electricity. Everything is at a standstill.
This is not the Nigeria we deserve.
There’s absolutely a reason why “Arise, O Compatriots” was removed. It was a call to Nigerians to take their destiny back from the vultures we call leaders. But the question is: Are we ready?
The future of Nigeria is in our hands. If you want this vicious circle to continue, I will know at the next general election.
If na garri you get to chop, if na water you get, drink, but you must be ready to answer the clarion call to save this nation when the time comes.
Shalom! 🇳🇬
I do not agree with your narrative. Your tone shows how condescending you view your own country. Developed countries do worse when it comes to racial profiling, and people don't stop visiting. I hate it when people don't value their own
