The last time I saw this girl she was in my 2nd grade class and now she’s FIRST in her class. I can’t wait to see what she does next! @NateDunlevy@debdunlevy
Am at poll worker training in Indianapolis. This class is full of women of all ages and races. It’s also run by women. I’m thinking it’s a good thing ya’ll gave us the right to vote.
In the mail today: a 90 page, full color, actual paper Christmas catalog...from Amazon. I knew the world was upside down but this is just, what is even happening?
I know I’m not the only GenXer asking these questions, but I am genuinely baffled that my father thinks I have lost my way when all I have done is try to live out the things he taught me.
My dad violated our two year truce and brought up politics this weekend. I got out of the situation without engaging but I’ve been arguing with him in my head ever since. I just can’t figure out how we are living in such different worlds.
How is my dad surprised that I don’t believe America is the highest good but rather want to see people lifted up wherever they happen to live? He raised me is a pacifist church!
But now he supports a president whose every action contradicts those values and principles. And he is SHOCKED that I am on the other end of the political spectrum.
For the record, I have not radically changed my values. I have not walked away from my faith or chosen a life path all that different from my parents. Everything I now believe is a natural extension of the principles my dad taught me as a child.
Last night I stood and watched the end of season awards for cross country and my 11yo was awarded the “self-starter award.” 😳 You really never know what your kids are like when they aren’t with you.
