So nice to come back to this account profile 3 years later to see the journey I’ve been on to get here now. Enjoying my third year as a qualified teacher and first full year as the science lead for the LEAP federation
Just looking through my tweets, since my last one I’ve;
- written two more assignments
- given a presentation
- had a placement in another school
- interviewed for and secured a job
- witnessed the birth of my daughter
Amazing what can happen in 4 months
So maintaining a professional social media presence and giving a regular account of my teaching training was far more challenging than I first imagined. I’m only now able to, momentarily, come up for air.
🚨🚨🚨 I have the most exciting news to announce... I and @olicav have signed a contract with @JohnCattEd to produce our book, Organise Ideas - Graphic Organisers for Meaningful Learning, due to be published in the first half of 2021
One down, two to go.
All the classic assignment commentary post hand in, could I of read a wider range of literature? Was that point relevant? Should I of started sooner?
But all that aside, behaviour management is such a great topic and I thoroughly enjoyed writing this.
"Most of the time we do not first memorize, then understand, then apply. We build our understanding in part through application and creation," writes @RonBergerEL in an op-ed on how #BloomsTaxonomy is misused @educationweek https://t.co/e3XLM1QxLG #edchat
This. Behaviour conversations are dominated by those who cause the most disruption. All children are valuable, *all* of them. As adults we need to advocate for the quiet and the chaotic, balancing needs, rights and desires, and optimising calm, dignity and learning.
I'm very visual when it comes to learning, so something like this beautifully simple diagram from @olicav 's 'Dual coding with Teachers' has really helped me not just understand Dual Coding but apply structure to PGCE papers!
This short video on “Low level disruption” by @tombennett71 has provided me with such a strong foundation for my approach to behaviour management in the classroom https://t.co/tHbVtWeoPd
