@NiallHarbison Thank you so much for giving her love and comfort in her final days. She showed us that living in the present is all we’ve got. Sweet girl. Sending hugs your way.
“These fires were unstoppable,” this fire chief said. The dry conditions, the 100 mph winds that grounded ALL air support the first 27 hrs, made these fires “unstoppable.” EVERY firefighter has said the same. You can choose to accept that hard truth or you can choose the easier path and be like Trump & @elonmusk & too many others and just get political & blame someone.
For SoCal friends,
Here is a list of resources for shelter, animal boarding, free items, and distribution hubs. These places can also use donations (e.g., food, water, masks, and blankets). Please consider donating if you can.

Billionaires call Social Security a “nightmare.”
You know what’s a nightmare?
Working your entire life to earn benefits then handing your retirement to Wall Street tax crooks.
@AlexAndBooks_@DylanoA4 Crime and Punishment is the easier book to read. It’s a good introduction to Dostoevsky. It’s intense but moves along at a good pace. Brothers K is also so good, but longer and more convoluted.
“In absolute governments,” Thomas Paine wrote, “the King is law, so in free countries the law ought to be king.”
The intention of the Founders was clear. The contents of the Constitution are plain.
But today, law was not king.
The Justice Dept and the court system failed to uphold the principle that no one is above the law.
DOJ by neglecting to promptly investigate the events of Jan 6, and the courts by willfully delaying progress of the case and providing immunity.
The public deserved better.
Yes, I’m disappointed in Merrick Garland, Jack Smith, & SCOTUS. But mostly I’m disappointed in the 76 million Americans who said “no big deal” and voted for a candidate who, just 4yrs ago, lost an election, refused to concede, and then actually committed crimes trying to overthrow that election. The fact that 76 million Americans didn’t find THAT disqualifying will always be my biggest disappointment.
@teacher2teacher Raise my own (Thanks, Prof. Joyce Hammer!). Get manic. Get silly. Get speedy. Invite students in (“You’re going to LOVE this solution!). It’s magic.
I would love to tell you about the times vaccines prevented me from getting sick, but every time it happens, I don’t notice. I just keep feeling well.
Neither do you.
Public health, when it’s working, is invisible.
@Nyct0phil3_x With my first pregnancy, I nervously asked what the criteria was for giving an episiotomy. The OB said flippantly, “You’ll get one if you need one. If I don’t give you one, your husband will come to me after and complain you are as big as a cave.” Changed to midwife immediately.
@NiallHarbison I love that you not only work so hard to make the lives better for so many dogs, but when a few of them get special treatment, you also make a big deal of it with meetings, parties and red carpet. The world would be a better place with more people like you and your team. Thanks!
