WE'RE GETTING DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO ROBOTS BEING SOLD LIKE PEOPLE ARE CAST FOR MOVIES.

Look at what's happening here.

They're not showing how much weight she can lift.

They're not demonstrating battery life.

They're not testing walking speed.

They're revealing the face.

And that tells you where part of the humanoid market could be heading.

Once the mechanics become good enough, companies will compete on something completely different:

Who looks more natural?

Who makes better eye contact?

Who has better expressions?

Who feels less like a machine standing next to you?

Because factories don't care what a robot looks like.

Humans do.

Hotels will care.

Retail will care.

Entertainment will care.

And consumers putting one inside their homes will definitely care.

The strange part is that we're still treating realistic faces like a robotics gimmick.

They could eventually become a product category of their own.

The smartphone had colors and cases.

Cars have trims and interiors.

Humanoids?

They might have faces.
