@DeputyGrocott My son (age 9) likes playing Times Table Battle on the Alexa. It's a bit glitchy sometimes and stops mid game, but it's still a lot of fun and great practice.
@twinklresources Worked in a SEND school once, with a boy with Aspergers called Daddy. It felt very strange at breaktime saying "daddy, don't eat the leaves!" In a different school there was a girl called Truly Scrumptious and her brother Arthur Pendragon!
@KKNTeachLearn My daughter's school is open for Yrs 7,10 and 11. She is in Yr 10 but won't be going to school in support of the strike. I said I didn't want her going and creating work for cover teachers, she agrees but only because she wants to stay in bed all morning!
@WhistleblowingT OP says without parent consent, not without their knowledge. I'm sure that Safeguarding will have spoken to the parents about this. We have a pupil who is referred to by their chosen name at school but their parent doesn't allow them to be called this in parental communication
@ShuaibKhan26 "If you can work as part of a team, you're already more of a teacher than you know!" Not sure where that idea comes from, certainly not a teacher.
@ScottPughsley Try having a really bad phobia of teeth, cracking a tooth, then going to the dentist only to be blamed and shamed for cracking said tooth when it is actually caused by vital medication you are forced to take in order to live a semi normal life! Guess where I'm currently sat!
@MrBoothY6 A friend of mine during her training year was told by her mentor she was a rubbish teacher, would never amount to anything & should give up now. She's just been promoted from head of houses to head of department in her 5th year of teaching! She is an amazing teacher and colleague
@MrMathsteer We make a departmental quiz, non maths related. Everyone has to make 1 round, then I collate them into 1 big quiz. We used to buy the Christmas quiz on TES but so did every other dept so the kids had played it already. The kids love our quiz, I did it 5 lessons out of 5 today
@shadylady222 Ditto, I feel your pain. However I was off with Covid Monday - Wednesday last week so got to go in tomorrow because of my stupid Bradford score. Oh the joys of having a suppressed immune system from my autoimmune disease! Hope you feel better soon.
@Beth_Tastic My daughter has dyslexia, I repeatedly ask her teachers to put homework on Teams or print off a piece of paper... instead they like to tell her to be more independent and learn to write quicker when copying it down from the board, and then give her detention for no homework!
@Michael_S_Green I love the whole Pentatonix Christmas album, but "Mary did you know" is probably my favourite as I don't think "Hallelujah" can be classed as a Christmas song
@dnleslie I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so have to sit quite often, SLT are aware. I sit to model on my laptop/visualiser, when circulating I will often sit in a student chair which I love to do, or if sat at my desk while they are working I'm always facing the class not looking at my laptop
