@lateration @PitheadChapel This is excellent. There is a disjointed feeling to the prose that illustrates how disorienting it is to lose people suddenly - in a "flash," which makes this a great form for your story.

@jbharrisbooks Sounds like you've made a lot of concessions & he just says "no." I'd ask him what concession he can make to move him toward solving the problem instead of constantly restating it. Also, I sometimes wait for my husband to fall asleep before putting my reading light on.

@jbharrisbooks @LindaGriffinA I think this varies by the person. I've read in bed my entire life. it's how I unwind. Reading distracts me from all the thoughts that would otherwise keep me awake. I've never struggled to sleep after reading. In fact, now that I'm older, I struggle to stay awake to read. 😂
