you know what doesn't help? The massive number of greyhounds bred for racing each year that the Australian community has to keep rescuing.
On the Pet Rescue site you can find currently racing greyhounds advertised for adoption. You can find current and former racing greyhounds all over the internet on facebook and on numerous other sites.
Greyhounds are bred for some humans to use for just a couple of years and then they are discarded. Greyhounds not fast enough or not interested in racing are discarded even earlier, one way or another.
Greyhounds, other animals waiting for adoption, and the Australian community, continue to pay a heavy price while this animal abuse industry is allowed to continue operating.

"Toodles Jack' at Horsham Victoria, barely makes it out of the box before struggling with a serious injury. He suffered a major left back muscle injury, given 60 days incapacitation if they don't kill him.
Already injured? Accelerating too fast from a standing start in a narrow box?

@susanamet@freethehounds These panel members should be embarrassed. They seem to not care, don't even know what information they have/don't have, let's just sit back and ignore the question.
NSW greyhound "Need An Alibi" is 2 years old today. He will not be having a happy birthday. His racing life so far has been filled with suffering after running in just two races.
In his second ever race at Maitland last night he collided with the metal railing suffering a fracture to the right fibula. 42 days incapacitation.
In his first race was last month 7 Feb at the Gardens he fell badly on the first turn, suffering sprains to his right shoulder, left pin, left fore shoulder muscle, left fore wrist and left quad muscle. He was given just 14 days incapacitation but didn't race again until last night.
What will his suffering be next time he is forced on to a track? He will be injured again, you can bet on it.
Footage - he is number 4 in blue both races. First images are from currently available 7 Feb replay, the sanitised version GRNSW wants you to see with images of fall removed. Next is what happened in that disappeared moment, the fall. Then images from last night where he slows down after colliding with the rail and then keeps running on his fracture.
These familiar and always shocking images provide further important evidence of a pattern of abuse and suffering inflicted on greyhounds in NSW on a daily basis.
These images are further evidence of unsafe NSW tracks and the serious risks faced by greyhounds every time they are forced to run on these tracks.
GRNSW claims to prioritise animal welfare. These images, and many others like them, do not support those claims.

another greyhound dead in Victoria just now at Sandown - the second so far today. Sickening... hard to watch
This is "Winckie Bale" in a horrible fall on the first turn. Clearly suffering, she is removed from the track while race is running (see last image). Was declared a no race.
No report yet but her record has just changed to DECEASED. Likely euthanised.
She was 4 years old and used for racing 82 times.
Rest in Peace 🤍

Greyhound Capo Dei Capi was killed about an hour ago at Shepparton in Victoria
Syndicate-owned, only 20 months young. She won her race, did everything asked of her, moments later she was dead, euthanised after an "incident" in the catching pen.
No detail about the "incident", could have been a fall, a collision, something else?
Rest in Peace 🤍

why is greyhound "Paw Kurtis" dead in Victoria?
Not yet 2 years old, he was used for racing 5 times. His last race was 11 March (no 5 yellow in footage) with post-race vet exam finding he had cramped, given 7 days incapacitation. His Fasttrack record has now changed to deceased. How did he die?
Rest in Peace 🤍
Born: 26 May 2024

Casino NSW just now.
First in footage is "Debbie Dutton". Not yet 2 years old, her first race was last month. Fall looks horrible and can't see the aftermath but staff look alarmed and someone runs out on the track.
Debbie Dutton update: major injury, extreme suffering involved - "a nearside radius/ulna fracture". 90 days incapacitation if they don't kill her
In the next race, "Kingsbrae Ebanee", also a bub not yet 2 years old, running injured.
Kingsbrae Ebanee update: "an offside hip injury". 14 days incapacitation
The censoring of footage by GRNSW is inconsistent and often makes no sense. These replays are currently available on the GRNSW website.

Shepparton in Victoria today, just the usual normalised animal abuse. Three greyhounds fell and another was dragged down suffering a serious injury.
"Billy Boy Reuben was galloped on by Lolly Cake turning off the back straight causing Billy Boy Reuben, Be Like Wayne and Lolly Cake to fall and severely checking Arizona Icon who subsequently tailed off"
Arizona Icon limped the rest of the way on his "left metatarsal fracture". Post race vet exams found:
Billy Boy Reuben - injuries to the right fibula and right triceps
Be Like Wayne – no apparent injury
Lolly Cake - left back muscle injury
Arizona Icon - left metatarsal fracture with 60 days incapacitation
And of course more injuries may later become apparent.
Predictable, inevitable, animal abuse. Same story day after day after day around the country.

straight tracks are definitely better but they are not the answer. Races still going at Healesville in Victoria, a couple of the injuries so far.
First is "Bonfiglio" falling, confused, suffering a left scapula "injury" (I think you mean "fracture"?). Only 28 days recovery given. Syndicate-owned, not yet 2 years old, his first race was last month. Won't surprised if he has more injuries that later become apparent along with the trauma they never talk about.
https://t.co/2tR9USowVg
Next is "Mr. Thomas" who barely made it out of the starting box before falling. Post-race he was found to be suffering a right triangle injury with just 5 days recovery given. As we know, many injuries only become apparent later so could be more.

@diva_ex_machina@gomichild I'm so sorry. Same thing happened to my greyhound, Max, in August. He was 12 and just collapsed. So grateful to the vet who helped me say goodbye. Greys are the funniest, most chilled dogs and give so much love. If now is the time, I wish you happy memories.

was all smiles for the dog slaughter industry at Sandown (Vic) last night. For the rest of Australia, a night or horror & sadness as one dog was killed, another slid under the railing fracturing a leg, numerous other serious injuries

Greyhound Racing NSW are holding a puppy auction on Sunday. The start of a life where your only value is as a commodity. You're not given a name, just a lot number. Please spare a thought on Sunday for the pups starting a barren, hazardous life as a product in the racing industry
They killed her in front of her kids. Yesterday, a 23-year-old woman was murdered in Springfield Lakes, Qld. Her husband and his brother are charged over her death. She is the third woman killed this week, the 28th killed this year and the 131st woman killed since January 1, 2024.
She has two little children - both under five years old. She comes from Afghanistan and it is my understanding has very few relatives in Australia.
Overnight Thursday, a woman was killed in Hamilton, Victoria, and on Tuesday a 20-year-old woman mowed down in the street and left to die.
