Are you calling your students with #dyslexia "reluctant readers"? Please stop. Being reluctant to do something means you can but are choosing not to. Dyslexic students are not 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥.
I’m disgusted by the quotes from CLBC + Min. Malcolmson in this report from @GlobalBC
My inbox is overrun with horrific stories happening right now all over BC involving CLBC. This must stop, I’m passing stories to former news colleagues. #bcpoli https://t.co/Kl5zsFWwMs
Last week, the Representative for Children and Youth released a report exposing critical gaps in supports for disabled children and youth. AutismBC supports its call for urgent action, including better cross-ministerial collaboration and equitable services. #bcpoli
📢 BC Families: The Ombudsperson is investigating the exclusion of students, including those with disabilities, from K-12 schools. If your child has been affected, share your experience through this confidential questionnaire by April 1, 2025.

Two of BC's largest unions have issued a letter to members outlining what’s at stake for public education in #BCElection2024. “We face a critical choice,” BCTF President @ClintJohnston7 and @CUPEBC President Karen Ranalletta write. Full letter: https://t.co/KnapeUVnMg #bcpoli
Inclusion BC is disturbed by the @Conservative_BC platform on education.
Research in Canada and around the world shows us that all students learn better in inclusive classrooms. (A thread)

@tamarataggart@downsyndromebc We know 80k children diagnosed with disabilities in BC we need to pull stats on adults as these platforms are failing and continuing to cause harm to current family structures, individuals and future generations. There's no forward thinking in any of these presentations
Gentle reminder that thousands of kids in BC are sitting in classrooms in seismically high-risk buildings that could sustain significant structural damage — or collapse — in a moderate earthquake. We’ve known this for decades. We need to speed up upgrades/replacements.
Help us track school exclusions! Past data shows:
47% of students with disabilities excluded for a full day due to lack of supports. 13% faced exclusions lasting over 4 months.
Have you faced this? Share your experience and help advocate for change!

Not one can convince me we can't get this right. Systemic and systematic ableism continues to disintegrate families and individuals with disabilities. Keep kids at home not in hotels

Tell me @bcndp how will the upcoming legislative Accessabilities Standards make support accessable in monetary, systemic and systematic form? We can do better ~ I am not witnessing a way in the draft🙊

Heartbreaking call with resident. Older gentleman who has always been a conscientious citizen, doing what he can to contribute to community. Receives meagre person with disability assistance from BC Government & lives in legislated poverty. We can & must do better for our people.
