My sister’s male obstetrician told her that her baby was 10% larger than average, would likely have shoulder dystocia, and that attempting a vaginal birth was “risking his life.” He pressured her into having a C-section and made her sign AMA (against medical advice) forms. She stood her ground and ultimately delivered her 9-pound baby vaginally, with no shoulder dystocia or complications. Turns out, the male doctor was going on vacation.
THIS IS NOT OKAY.
