But that doesn't change the fact that Buckner putting the ball in play with regularity doesn't make him a hall of famer. As an example, if a guy grounds out 550 times a year it doesn't make them a "generational" hitter, right?

Definitely a good hitter who avoided strikeouts, but putting the ball in play consistently doesn't mean as much if you aren't turning it into hits. Would like to see more walks for someone who didn't strike out much.
