Read a week of Canadian energy headlines this week, including the loudest critique of Carney going. Both sides have a real case. Here's the actual record, with sources. π§΅
CARNEY'S CASE: Sept 29 β LNG Canada Phase 2 took a final investment decision. $33B, second-largest single private investment in Canadian history. Doubles the terminal to 28M tonnes/yr. 4,000+ construction jobs. $4.9B already to Indigenous and local businesses; five First Nations hold an option to put up to $1B into a Phase 2 storage tank. TC Energy took a FID on Coastal GasLink Phase 2 the same day. A decade of pipeline being argued about turned into private capital actually moving, with Indigenous equity in the design rather than bolted on after.
Oct 1 β Pacific Link listed as a project of national interest. 1M bbl/day to Asia, Canada and Alberta 50/50, minimum 10% Indigenous stake, southern route to avoid the Great Bear Sea.
POILIEVRE'S CASE: PBO, June 4 β deficit went $36.3B (1.2% of GDP) to $72.0B (2.2%) in one year, running $4.6B/yr above Carney's own projection; the 2028-29 balance anchor is currently missed. Industrial carbon price: $95/tonne now, $140 by 2040. Pacific Link's conditions aren't locked until Sept 1, 2027 β listed isn't built. Sept 8 β retaliatory tariffs took effect; the tariff-free deal isn't done. Carney wants immigration up while housing strains, and the Conservatives want it cut further.
WHERE THE ARTICLE IS OFF: The assault-style firearms ban is a 2020 law; Carney's government extended the compliance amnesty until 90 days after the Supreme Court rules on it. I also couldn't find documentation for the "banking alliance to shut down oil and gas" charge, or for the claim that Carney opposed a Pacific pipeline. Both get repeated constantly, neither has a citation I could locate, and the 2018 BC Business Council task force he co-chaired points the other way.
Both men are partly right about a real record. Neither is entirely wrong.

been building bot mode for @NousResearch hermes agent. you can now ask your main bot to hire a team, put them in a room where only the lead listens, and have it build plugins for itself live
Would love feedback on what's missing or annoying and More features to Clank @Teknium

Making desktop plugins something you can just ask for. Hermes writes the file, it loads live, and you can tweak it by talking to it. Hoping this opens up customizing the app to people who don't write code. Feedback welcome π
