@afneil Daft laddie question incoming, would the UK remaining in the EU have boosted all 4 countries GDP growth or would the impact have been immaterial overall. I appreciate it’s a counter factual question so who really knows.
@AngusBMacNeil For the vote to count you would need the losers consent, that’s a key part of democracy. What happens if you decide to use the election, win but the losers don’t consent?
@PeteWishart I don’t get the argument, are you saying that because inappropriate behaviour went unpunished back then inappropriate behaviour should go unpunished today? Not even Douglas Ross, as loathsome as he is, should be shouted or swore at in the workplace.
@PippaCrerar So the political revolution of reform will not happen unless the bastions of the last Tory government, which was so successful, defect? Brilliant.
@afneil A lot of ifs here…a Q from an economically illiterate person. What is the problem of a potentially independent scotland that wants to join the EU of adopting the Euro? Is it not a strong currency?
@moviefeminist@BarbaraRich_law Does that mean then that I don’t pay income tax or national insurance? Both are paid by my employer? I assume also I don’t pay vat? Or any other such tax. Not once have I ever made a direct payment to HMRC.
@owenjonesjourno It won’t a deterrence to Russia but an acknowledgement that if Russia were to invade a NATO country we are unprepared to defend ourselves without US support, which we can no longer rely on. Europe as a whole needs to become independent of US military aid….just in case.
@OliDugmore Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried….
@PeteWishart Nonsense 😂. Who will win the next election nobody knows but the idea that reform will win the popular vote and be in government is for the birds.
@RestPoliticsUS@Scaramucci@KattyKay_ Why are ordinary Americans so opposed, or so it seems, to a European style universal healthcare system? I get why politicians are, I imagine they get chunky donations from healthcare providers and insurers.
Does America have a universal education system similar to Europe?
