Freddie Gibbs and Trae Tha Truth are bringing attention to the ongoing crisis in Gary, Ind., after severe storms left parts of the city dealing with widespread damage and prolonged power outages.

Gibbs, a Gary native, spoke with MS NOW on the conditions in his hometown, saying the predominantly Black city has historically been overlooked and that it’s unfortunate it takes a crisis of this magnitude for Gary to receive national attention.

Trae Tha Truth has been on the ground assisting residents directly through his Relief Gang organization. Along with distributing food, cleaning supplies and other necessities to families in need, Trae and his team have been helping remove fallen trees from homes and streets as the community continues to recover from the storm.

The electric company, NIPSCO, says they were forced to pause work after their crew was shot at while they were helping restore power.

I know, I watched the entire episode the day it dropped. The whole point of Damona bringing Tia up was about the clip of her telling that club to release the phones (against theatre etiquette). When Damona begins a new topic on her pod, she gives a bit of background of what she knows &has learned, so the audience can follow along. Thats why she spoke on how she knew of Tia, &not being familiar of her stepping into live comedy. She spoke on why she wouldn’t collab, stating thats not the direction she would want to go in or collab for. That shouldn’t be met with all of this vitriol unless you interpret offense in places you can’t respect criticism or preference, or you’re a combative person. Tia is a combative person. Lastly, I too wouldn’t want to share the stage w/ someone who stands for too many things I don’t tolerate.
