The biggest reason we remain poor is because we don't know how to build on top of other people's success/business. We are always at Level 1 because we copy and want to compete with those who are already doing it. I hear everyone talking about mining Gold, I haven't heard anybody talking about starting a jewelry manufacturing...

I look at kwaTerry, he has done great now if I was looking to leverage what he has done, I would be thinking; what is it that may be needed by his clients and I leverage that. Probably he would need a steady stream of visitors, I can do transport. Maybe they would need somewhere to sleep, I could do chalets, maybe he doesn't have enough supply of meat . Maybe electricity and I do a small 500KW solar farm....etc You then build a simbiotic ecosystem instead of trying to start your own KwaDhodho 1km away...

Those who are established must also see opportunities for synergy and promote such. Unfortunately they also tend to be protective much to their own detriment. I have written about the apple farm here which has a juice extraction business just by its gate and then somebody also added an apple cider company a few meters away. They all make money and I know the farmer even invested in those companies.

If Econet had opened it's platforms to more local developers it would probably have contribute to more startups flourishing in Zimbabwe and more revenue & innovation for itself. Unfortunately it enjoyed a exclusive monopoly which also stalled it's own innovation.

Anyway, let's build together and let's travel roads less travelled. Zvihuta, macabbage gundamusaira is not worth it
