Major infrastructure boost underway for Berhampur!

Works Secretary, Odisha, Sri Sanjay Kumar Singh, IAS, recently conducted a site visit to review the Berhampur Ring Road project in Ganjam district.
🔹 Leadership On-Site: Key R&B officers along with the CCE Southern Circle, SE Ganjam, and field engineers were present to monitor progress.
🔹 Directive: Clear instructions issued to mobilize extra manpower, machinery, and resources to accelerate work without compromising on quality.
🔹Target Completion: End of March 2027.

Better connectivity and smoother transit for Berhampur are on the horizon!

Berhampur Ring Road. Target: March 2027

A project with a 13+ year journey:

• 2013: Ring Road first conceptualised (~45-52 km)
• 2014: Foundation stone laid
• 2014-20: Stalled mainly over land acquisition & approvals
• Nov 2021: Physical construction finally began
• 2022: Phase-II included in state budget
• 2023: 12.3-km EPC package tendered (~₹175 Cr)
• Nov 2023: ₹156.5 Cr contract approved
• 2024-25: Authority engineering & utility shifting
• 2025: Original completion target missed
• 2026: Project still under construction

@RissiPanda Actually the proposed ring road was to be constructed in 3 parts. While 2 portions are currently under construction by NHAI & PWD, the work on a key 17km stretch is yet to start.
So this March '27 target is for a semi-ring road, not a full fledged ring road as conceptualized

Both Adani & Vedanta have secured bauxite mining lease in Koraput/Rayagada/Kalahandi of South Odisha but building massive hospital projects in BBSR/Sambalpur. Who cares about Rayagada or South Odisha? Just plunder.
